The Pitched Roofing Awards 2021 returned as an in-person event for the first time since before the pandemic, with more than 250 guests celebrating at The Midland Hotel in Manchester, and from the buzz in the room, it was clear the industry was excited to get back together after a long 19 months.
Now in its fourth year, the awards, founded by Roofing, Cladding & Insulation (RCI) magazine, are proudly independent, and celebrate the achievements of roofing contractors, manufacturers and suppliers who demonstrate an outstanding level of technical ability and an excellent quality of workmanship.
Eleven champions and one highly commended were crowned at the well-attended ceremony on Friday 26 November, which was hosted by television presenter, Jenny Powell.
All the finalists announced on the day were judged by a panel of industry experts, who assessed each entry solely on the merits in front of them. A huge thank you to Chris Hopkins, Clare Fenton, Gary Lyons, Denise Cherry, Stewart Rowles, John Mercer and Chris Miller for carving out time to assess entries and agree our shortlist and winners. We couldn’t have done this without you.
Congratulations to all our winners and highly commended entries,” said Nichola Farrugia, editor of RCI. “Your hard work and dedication have shown that, despite challenging circumstances, excellence can be attained.
Every submission we received for the 2021 awards demonstrates the effort teams from across the roofing industry have put in to grow and put their organisation in the frame, in spite of the difficult pandemic backdrop.
While not everyone was able to win a trophy, you should all be immensely proud of your achievements. Thank you for sharing your projects with us.
“I would just like to say thank you to RCI for your excellent hard work in organising and hosting the virtual Pitched Roofing Awards 2020. We are very proud and honoured to have won, and it gives me great personal satisfaction in receiving these awards, especially as I am coming to the end of my career as a lead worker. Working with lead has given me lifelong enjoyment and satisfaction, and I always strive for the best quality installations and workmanship. It is pleasing to see that awards like this recognises our skills, therefore long may they continue!”
